rainwater tank supply and install

Water where and when you need it

Install a rainwater tank at your Rodney home and you can water your garden, top up spas and swimming pools, wash the car, wash the boat, wash the house and even wash the kids for free.

We supply and install water tanks

If you live in Mahurangi West, Warkworth, Matakana, Omaha, or anywhere else across Rodney you may rely on a rainwater collection system for your household water, so you need one or two tanks delivered and installed on your property.

For those do have access to town water supply, why not take advantage of a rainwater harvesting system and use the free water that lands on the roof rather than paying to use expensive water supplies to wash and irrigate? Only 3% of the water used by a typical Rodney household is for drinking or cooking – most of the water you pay for gets flushed straight down the drain, so don’t pay for it. Get your water from the cloud.

Lets’ talk water tanks

There are many different rainwater tanks on the market. They come in different shapes, sizes and materials, including plastic, concrete, or metal. Depending on where you live, what your property is like and why you need a water tank, selecting the one right can be tricky.

As part of our rainwater tank supply and install service, we will go over your water requirements, outline the options available, and provide a quote for the delivery and installation.

There are a few things to think about, the first being whether you’re going for a plastic tank or a concrete tank.

Partially buried tanks

Plastic tanks can be partially buried, by how much depends on their size: 10,000L – 30,000L may be buried to 1m, whereas 450L – 5,000L water tanks can be buried up to 1/3 of their side wall height, under certain conditions.

Underground tanks

Concrete water tanks can handle being fully buried, meaning you hide them discretely on your property and even can lay a driveway over the top or use this space for something useful.

Tank installation in sandy soils

A tank site needs to be at least 300mm larger in diameter than the tank. This can be tricky when digging large holes in sandy soils, as they tend to collapse in on themselves. But our specialist team at Drinnian Contractors has the answer.

We have specially constructed shields made up by our engineering counterparts that we place into the ground to stop a hole in sandy soil caving in on itself. These professionally constructed shields allow us to excavate and install water tanks even in the sandy soils around Omaha and Point Wells.

Reliable water tank installation

Installing a water tank isn’t as simple as digging a hole and then dropping the tank inside. You’ll need careful planning and expert advice. We help you with this and explain the whole process.

The excavation of the land will need to be made with just as much precision as the installation of the rainwater tank. Correct preparation of the base for your water tank is a crucial step in the installation process. A full plastic tank can weigh over 30 tonnes, so a poorly laid pad can wreak havoc on your rainwater tank over time.

Whether partially buried or above ground, your tank site must level and free from any debris, such as rocks, roots or stones that may damage the tank base. Regardless of whether sand or fine gravel is used as fill, the tank site must well compacted. Backfill of sand, clean dirt or bark must be carefully and evenly placed around the tank and allowed to settle naturally
